Forest Assist is a field app for forest management and inventory. We consider it essential to preserve the confidentiality of your data, which is never shared on the Internet.

No data collection

Forest Assist runs entirely on your device. The app:

creates no account and requires no identification;
sends no data to any server; there is no server;
embeds no analytics, advertising or tracking tool;
shares no data with third parties.

Data used locally

To provide its features, the app needs access to the following functions of your smartphone:

Location (including in the background): GPS track recording, positioning of observations, assignment to estates/parcels;
Camera: observation and inventory photos, vertical compass, LiDAR distance measurement;
Photo library: linking, displaying and saving photos/videos;
Microphone and speech recognition: voice notes, transcribed on the device;
Motion: device orientation for the compass.

This data remains stored locally. It only leaves the device if you decide to export or share it (by e-mail or AirDrop).

Deletion

You can delete your data at any time from the app, or by uninstalling the app (which deletes all local data).

This website

This website is static: it sets no cookies, uses no tracker and loads no third-party resource. No personal data is collected while browsing. An e-mail sent via the contact link is processed only to answer your request.
